Web To Mobile
Web to Mobile phone is a next generation wave moving across the internet. The advanced mobile phones and high speed wireless connectivity wean the internet from desktop display to mobile display. There are challenges while moving from web to mobile. The term 'web to mobile' is a wrong phrase. It suppose to be 'Desktop to Mobile'. Whether surfing the internet in computer or mobile phone, a web is a web. Web at server level is same for both computer and mobile phone browsing. Web changes at content level for computer and mobile phone. The resolution of Internet has to shrink to adapt to mobile phone. An average mobile phone display will be around 200 pixel. There are challenges in front of us while transferring content to 'mobile browsing'. Content Maintenance: From Web to Mobile the content has to shrink. 1) We have to use two separate versions of content - one for desktop browsing and other for mobile browsing. Updating at Desktop version has to be reflected in mobile version. So more work for web masters or content managers to synchronize both desktop and mobile phone versions of contents. 2) Keep the single version of content for both Desktop Browsing and Mobile Browsing. Here content has to be dynamically altered when viewing in Mobile browsers. The browser resolution or user agent has to be detected in advance to alter the content. This is the scope of developers or techie people who has to work at server scripting. Content Rewriting: Apart from content and HTML, Style Sheet(CSS) there will be no major change at Server level. There will be no need for separate servers for computer browsing and mobile phone browsing. Existing server technologies are enough. Any kind of server scripting - CGI used for web application viewed in computers can be used in mobile phone browsing. Web to Mobile is a change at content level mainly. Facebook, twitter, Yahoo, Google and major web portals have their mobile phone version of content. Sooner or later there may be websites developed only to view in mobile phones. This will happen when data transfer from hand held devices is more than desktop and laptop computers. Related Articles |
