Running a classified website - a free internet classified is my dream since last 10 years. I made an attempt 8 years back - I launched free internet classified. I abandoned it after two years. Till now, the urge to run a classified site haunting me often.

By God's grace, I realized the semantic of running a classified portal recently.

There were two classifieds started along with mine 8 years back. There might be many beyond my awarnes. Those two are still active till date. I do not know whether they achieved anything or earned anything or attained Self - Sustainable Traffic or still sucking the money of it's investors.

Are people started using those classified websites? How traffic is coming to those websites?

Are they still depending on google/SEO for traffic?

Are they still advertising in online/offline media to bring visitors to their website?

Are the internet society well aware of those websites and people straight away open those classifieds website in the browser instead of searching in google or yahoo or any SEO, then landing to those classified portals from the search results?

Any classified website, running more than 3 years and still depending on adwords/media advertisement both offline and online for bringing traffic, deserve to be shut down. It is wast of time and money to run it. It fail to establish its brand name in the net society.

A successful classified website should earn 'Self-Sustainable' traffic within 3 years, or at least 5 years. Users should directly come to the website instead of using search engines to stumbled. At least 50% of the traffic from upon.
