I have experienced the same type of dreams often in my life. The dream I had lost month may come tomorrow.
I have several pattern of dreams repeated in irregular periods.
I often have dream as I walk over a thick forest, which spread across several small mountains. It is a sort of trekking. I remember the tall trees, deep valley, big lake. Some time I walk in steps and path created manually.
In this trekking/climbing type dream, I reach a hill station or mini town at the top of the mountain. I get bus from there.
Many days I have the same trekking dream. Like that there may be many pattern of dreams, we have repeatedly over a period of time.
Lot of research on dreams. Many theories for dreams. I have my view for dreams. This may be innovative or foolish. My view may change in the future too.
My hypothesis about dreams:
Everyday we have different level of emotions, tension, moods, and pleasure. Everything impact brain. Sometime more blood or chemicals get flooded into brain. Some time get heated. Some time get cooled. Some time there may be micro level blood clot in brain.
Brain stimulate dreams to cure its damages or tear and wear. Through dreams brain relaxes its neurons and cures its blood clot.
When my day has complex activity or get confused, I have more dreams in my sleep. When my day filled with peace, I have deep sleep in the night.
The dreams and quality of sleep, depends on the mood we have, when we do not sleep.
Brain needs to release its tension or get itself cured in some way - through dreams in sleep.
