Quantity Ingredients:
2 cups Rolled Oats
1/4cup Green gram dal(moong dal)
3 cups Water
1 teaspoon Cumin powder
10-15 nos Curry leaves
to taste Salt
25g Broken cashewnuts
1/4 teaspoon Oil and ghee
Method:
1. Cook dal using 1 cup of water until soft
2.Fry oats using little ghee until it changes its colour
3.Add water to cooked dal with enough salt.
4.when it starts boiling add oats, mix gently and cook on medium flame.Close with a lid.
5.Remove lid after 5 mins, check the consistency. Mix cumin powder.
6.Heat the remaining oil and add together.
7.Fry cashewnuts, add curry leaves,asafoetida powder and add to pongal.
8. Serve hot with chutney. you could also put the pongal into moulds and serve it in mounds.
