CIBIL

CIBIL may have listed your name in defaulters list based on flimsy complaints from Private Banks.

Recently I tried to get a personal loan from HDFC bank. I submitted all the required papers. Few days later , I was informed as my application was rejected as I name was listed in CIBIL defaulters list. OOPs...

Few years Back.

I was approached by a credit card marketing executive from HSBC bank. The HSBC credit card marketing executive informed me about the 'Gold Card' which is free from annual service charge, and etc. I have to pay for how much I use the card like purchasing and direct cash withdrawal. No need to pay anything for holding or receiving the Credit Card. I believed it, and signed the form and submitted my papers to the marketing executive.

I received my first credit card from HSBC.

After one month, I received a bill from HSBC for Rs.3000+ as service charge for issuing the Credit Card.

I got angry, and contacted the marketing executive. He said that I was billed mistakenly. I could talk to customer care to resolve it. He never attended my call henceforth.

I called and complained to their Call Center. But no response. I decided to not to pay the 'service charge' and not to use the card. I broke the card and courier it to the address mentioned in the bill.

For the next few months I received bill with the cumulative interest of the amount I did not pay( Rs. 3000+). Finally it reached Rs.6000+. They stopped sending bills.

Collection executives started torturing me over phone and in person. I informed them, I did not use the card to purchase anything and withdraw any cash from ATM. If they bring a bill with such details I will pay for how much I use but I am not ready to pay the service charge.

Those collection executives not able to find any such transaction. I clearly told them How I was cheated by the marketing executive of HSBC credit card. So I can not repay.

The whole episode happened few years back.

I was confused, who did the cheating.

Is it the HSBC credit card or me? By giving me the false 'sales pitch' and promising about the product and brainwashing me to get the product, later I found the features told was not hold by the product. Who cheated first?

It seems that CIBIL listens to the Banks blindly, without investigation. I am ready to pay the bill of HSBC credit card if they show any shopping or cash transaction other than service charge. I was told as no service charge or annual fee for HSBC credit cards by their marketing executive.

Is there any government or NGO organization to help victims like me? If so, please let me know?

By the way, later I managed to get a secured loan from another bank by pledging my NSC Bonds.

Is there any way to make CIBIL listen my case, and remove my name from their defaulter list?

CIBIL too may defaults, but no way to correct itself. Read another victim's grievance.

CIBIL is the abbreviation of Credit Bureau Information India Limited

I was forcibly given DR CREDIT CARD which I reluctantly accepted because my friend compelled me to oblige his SBI bank colleague.I never used it,destroyed it.After few years I started getting calls for recovery of dues.I was never given details of chrges nor i was given address/phone no of responsible officer in charge to whom i can talk/meet,as call center people do not have information.I applied for housing loan from Axis Bank which was rejected on grounds that according to CIBIL records i was defaulter.Ultimately i was compelled to pay Rs 1000/-as settlement amount for accepting FREE CR CARD & NOT USING IT EVEN ONCE>Banks are utilising CIBIL as a tool to cheat people, including Public sector bank like SBI against respected people like DOCTORS,who are hardly DEFAULTERS
CIBIL should take serious note of this behaviour of banks

Thanks
