Budget Homes 2010 Exhibition

| |

Budget Homes 2010 exhibition is completed today at Chennai Trade Center. The entrance ticket was Rs.30. As usual there was Q in the morning hours to get in.

Around 30 to 50 builders participated in the exhibition. As predicted the belt of OMR, off OMR, road from Kooduvanchery to Kelambakkam, Oragadam, Sriperumpudur, Ponnamalli Avadi road are hot spots. Of course, the prices tagged at this regions can not be imagined in Chennai main city.

We can predict that more than 20000 dwelling units, will be constructed in these region by medium and major builders within the next 3 to 5 years. More construction may be coming in the future.

New townships and 'new city' in these regions, will change the face of sub-urban chennai. It is sure.

People are eager to buy a home withn Rs. 15 lakhs.

While seeing the brouchures, I feel some time the 'budget homes' is a seduction to wean the takers. Because all the units are not within the range of Rs.15 lakhs. If a project has 100 units, 20+ will be less than 15 lakhs. Remaining will the over 20 or 30 lakhs.

Affordability is not a fact or a static figure. Affordability is subjective and dynamic. How much can I afford will not be same as how much you can afford. How much can I afford now will not be same with the future and the past.

The flats and townships have variety of home in different prices. You can get a home within 'your affordability'. He can get his home within 'his affordability'. The fact is both need not be same figure. After attending the Budget home exhibition, I realised this.

There is no place and price in chennai main city within our affordability for a double bedroom home. I was not able to see a single builder or construction from chennai main city in the exhibition.

Budget homes 2010, is to make the people aware that there are townships and massive housing units are available in the sub-urban of chennai at their affordable cost.

The real estate history of newyork, detroit or other western metros, the realty history of Mumbai, Delhi is repeating in chennai. There will be townships, residential units 50 to 100 kilo meter away from Chennai main city. People will be shuttling between their sub-urban dwelling units and work place in super highways by their affordable cars.

Budget homes 2010, makes us predict the future of Chennai Sub-urban landscapes. Earlier Housing board(Govt), did the same thing in Maraimalai Nagar. Now it is the private sector, creating massive residential sectors like, Janakpuri, Rohini in Delhi, Nariman point in Mumbai.
