Avoid Telemarketing Harassment Calls
Recently I found a way to avoid telemarketing harassment calls in a polite way. My approach does not hurt anybody. I will convince that, I am not a prospect for their product and stop 'following up' further. For a long time, I was struggling to deny the telemarketing calls decently. Either I have to 'roar' or switch off my mobile phone. I may miss valid calls while switching off. I loose my temper when I roar. Shouting or roar or throwing angry words disturb my emotional balance. This will affect my self-image when I am in office or public places. I say 'I am not interested' to personal loan and credit card calls. The same executing stop calling me again. But, telemarketing calls for mutual funds, insurance, mediclaim, ULIP products never stop by saying 'I am not Interested'. They switch the topic as they are not contacting for sales, instead they contact to educate me. Help me to aware about the new products and opportunities. They try to pick up words from my mouth to convince me. In a moment of weakness, the get my appointment. I am finished. Without roaring or switching off the mobile phone, it is not possible to escape from these telemarketing calls. I found a decent way to handle the telemarketing calls. It can be applicable to Insurance, Mutual Funds, ULIP, Mediclaim calls. Example to avoid telemarketing call for Insurance Products: I listen to their speech for a while. I interrupt them in the middle. I say 'I am insured already. What will happen to my existing insurance coverage, If I purchase your insurance product. Well, I can not afford and I do not like to have two insurance covers for my life. If you want to abandon the existing insurance policy, do you pay the premium amount I have been paying. OR It is possible to transfer my existing insurance cover to your company.' The telemarketing executive never call me again. In simple, convey that you have been insured already. You are not interested or can not have more than one insurance cover. If he is able to transfer your current policy to his company, let him proceed. If you have to abandon your current policy, he has to give you the premium amount you paid so far. Ask him/her, whether your conditions are possible to him. The telemarketing executive will not call you again. I successfully convinced many insurance telemarketing executives in this way. I convince them that, I am not a prospect for their new product. Example for avoiding telemarketing call for ULIP products: No ULIP product is giving assurance to your premium amount. If the market sinks, your insurance product dies since ulip would not be able to pay the premium amount. I ask the tele caller, give me an assurance in writing for the security of my insurance policy attached with the ULIP. Even market sinks, Insurance cover should be intact. Ask a written guarantee from the telemarketing executive. He/She will not disturb you again. Example to Avoid telemarketing calls for Mediclaim products: Ask the tele caller whether is it possible to transfer your existing coverage to their company. They will never call you again. My approach was so successful with an Insurance agent from Bharti Axe. I have already having an Insurance from LIC. Financially, I can not afford for another insurance. The tele caller asking me to compare the their product. Their product seems to be better than the policy I have currently. I asked him, "Will you pay the premium amount I have been paying since last five years?" Because I can not afford for two policies. If I take a new one, I have to give up the existing one. The money I paid will be lost. Instead of switching off the mobile phone or verbally roaring with them, this approach is polite. It saves my energy and keep me emotionally balanced after attending the call. Related Articles |
